Nutrition for Women Navigating Menopause

The POWER OF Addition:

An Anti-Diet Strategy

What if your healthiest years aren’t behind you—but ahead of you?

The POWER OF Addition is a refreshingly anti-diet guide that helps women 45+ feel stronger, think clearer, and live longer by focusing on what to add, not what to cut. No more white-knuckle rules. No more starting over on Monday. You’ll learn how simple “additions”—protein, fiber, smart carbs, healthy fats, strength training, and sane routines—stack up to real, durable change.

Written by Katalin Ogren, veteran coach, lifelong martial artist, and owner of Chicago’s POW! Gym, this book blends practical coaching with compassion. It meets you where you are (careers, caregiving, changing hormones, busy schedules) and gives you a rhythm you can actually keep.

This book is for you if...

  • You’re done with rigid plans that implode by Friday.

  • You want strength, mobility, and longevity—not another 30-day sprint.

  • You’re ready for a plan that respects your reality and still gets results.

What changes when you add instead of subtract?

Your plate gets simpler. Your training gets smarter. Your life feels bigger. Addition builds a body—and a life—you want to keep.

Katalin Rodriguez Ogren

Author of The Power of Addition

Katalin Rodriguez Ogren is an internationally recognized martial artist with four black belts and a fitness professional with a prolific career spanning over three decades. She has authored several fitness training manuals and starred in numerous workout videos and DVDs. Katalin also played Kitana, Mileena, and Jade in the iconic video game Mortal Kombat II. Her reach extends across fitness, entertainment, and the international speaking circuit, where she has presented at industry events worldwide for over a decade.

As owner-operator of POW! Gym Chicago since 2001, she pioneered the "boutique fitness" concept and built her reputation on programming that meets her clients where they are. She understands what actually works for real bodies and real lives. What sets Katalin apart isn't just her experience; it’s her focus on genuine connection. Katalin believes real change happens through relationships, not just a one-size-fits-all workout plan.

Drawing from the disciplines and methods of her lifelong martial arts practice, she has spent her career teaching women how to train their bodies and their minds with the same intensity, focus, and strategic thinking that she cultivated through decades of martial arts training. But what truly makes her stand out is her ability to listen, translate complex concepts into relatable strategies, and deliver the exact message each person needs to hear in the way they need to hear it. Whether she's leading training sessions or providing nutrition feedback, Katalin has a gift for identifying what matters most for each unique individual and communicating it in a way that clicks. She's witnessed firsthand that nutrition and strength training are inseparable partners in midlife. Her goal is simple: inspire women to apply the Power of Addition to their weekly nutrition, one of the most controllable parts of their week. Once nutrition becomes their constant, strength training becomes the game-changer. Because getting stronger isn't just about looking better. It's about living longer and attacking the second half of life with power, purpose, and passion.

As Katalin navigates her own midlife transition, she practices what she preaches. Katalin believes your food choices should fuel your life, not define your worth. She helps women reclaim their strength and step into the second half of life ready to attack it, not just survive it.

Katalin lives in Chicago with her three children and husband. She is still operating POW! Gym, where she trains, teaches, and connects with people to help them grow in both mind and body.
